Oil-Free Sweet Potato Fries – Great to Dip in Any Sauce

The Perfect Sweet Potato Fry

I always found that there is nothing better than biting into the perfect fry. Of course, there is a debate on what makes for the best fry. Some people may ask if it is crunchy enough while others prefer fries being really soft. I personally strive for the perfect combination of soft on the inside and a perfect crisp on the outside. With this in mind, I present my Oil-Free Sweet Potato Fries recipe!

A Bit More About This Recipe

My favorite type of fries will always be Sweet Potato Fries. I love enjoying the salty and sweet combination that you get with Sweet Potato Fries… it’s basically the ultimate combo really! It‘s kind of like the kettlecorn of fries, it’s great!

Oil-Free

I occasionally enjoy fries made in a traditional oil fryer, but it is a different story when I am cooking for myself. At home, I prefer to limit my oil usage to the bare minimum.

Luckily this Sweet Potato Fries recipe is 100% oil-free! You will, however, need one of the following to get the perfect crisp:

I recommend using an air fryer to get the best results. If you only have access to a traditional oven, then the use of Silicone Baking Mats will help get a crisp without using oil.

TIPS & TRICKS

  • The longer you boil the sweet potato before baking, the softer the inside of the fries. But don’t make them too soft to where they are falling apart!
  • Air fryers are really affordable these days! Here is the air fryer I own.

Type of Potato

I used the traditional orange Sweet Potato; however, you are welcome to use any type of potato your heart desires.

If you want to try something else, I recommend trying my personal favorites, the Japanese or Okinawan sweet potato. If you aren’t familiar with these types of sweet potatoes, they are White and Purple and can be found at any Asian grocery store.
