First make the Donuts. Preheat oven to 350 degree F. If using a metal donut pan, prepare it with oil to prevent sticking.
In a large bowl, combine all dry ingredients (Flour, Baking Powder, Cinnamon, Ginger).
In a separate large bowl, combine all wet ingredients (Maple syrup, Apple sauce, Vanilla Extract).
Slowly add and mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients until well incorporated.
Transfer mixture into a piping bag (optional, but much easier to fill molds) and pipe mixture into donut molds evenly, filling up to about ¾ of the mold.
Place donuts into the oven and bake for 8 – 10 minutes or until golden brown. May use the toothpick test (insert a toothpick and make sure when you pull it out it is clean) to make sure donuts are baked all the way through.
Remove donuts from oven and cool completely on a cooling rack before decorating.
Make the Cinnamon Sugar. In a small bowl, mix together sugar and cinnamon, then set aside for later.
In a medium bowl, mix together Maple Glaze ingredients.
Once donuts are completely cooled, dip each donut halfway down into the icing. Then sprinkle cinnamon sugar mixture on top. Set aside to harden and repeat for the remaining donuts.
Enjoy!
